Different sights have different characteristics. With variable-magnification optics, the shooter can adjust the sight to the engagement distance. With combined sighting setups, the shooter can, for example, use a magnified optic for longer-range fire and quickly switch to a red dot or iron sights when a close-range threat appears, or simply when faster weapon alignment is needed.

If the primary sight is damaged, the shooter can use iron sights, provided they are installed on the weapon and are not obstructed by other components.

Prolonged aiming, especially with heavy weapons, consumes the trooper’s stamina.

Fatigue and stress can make steady aiming more difficult. For greater accuracy, it is advisable to use more stable body positions and better-protected firing positions. Using a bipod or dedicated tripod almost completely eliminates the negative effects of fatigue and stress.

Focusing

Focusing

Focusing allows the shooter to temporarily stabilize the weapon by holding their breath.

Focusing may be unavailable while exhausted or under stress.
